Eating in one of the nice restaurants in Rotterdam, that is also affordable, is all we want, right? Luckily there are plenty of options in our city. Because we like to consider our budget (we’ll always be Dutch!), we share some nice and affordable restaurants in Rotterdam below. We have also taken into account a good price/quality ratio.
Pastas, pizzas, curries, a delicious bowl of ramen, in this article you can find all kinds of amazing restaurants in Rotterdam that offer delicious and affordable dishes. Of course everything is relative, that’s why we also share some prices.

1. Sabor Sabor
Through the dishes of Sabor Sabor you travel to different areas in Mexico. Each dish comes from a different part of the country. Everything is very colourful and full of flavour. You can also share many of the dishes together, which is always fun and a great way to get a taste of everything.
During my visit I (together with my boyfriend) got to try out a lot of the dishes: Guacamole sol y luna (€12.10), Sopa azteca (tortilla soup for €8.70) and Calabacitas enchiladas (vegan enchiladas for €18.50).
Every week Sabor Sabor puts together a new three- and four-course surprise menu from the chef. That’s a fun and affordable way to taste a lot of different things! The three-course menu costs €25.50 per person and the four-course menu €31 You can choose from chicken, meat, fish, vegetarian or vegan.

2. Zainab Roshni Mahal
On Nieuwe Binnenweg you will find Zainab Roshni Mahal, an Indian/Pakistani restaurant. As soon as you step inside, you imagine yourself in another country. The interior has lots of quirky details, from the special wall with built-in “candles” to the colourful lamps and the bright green tablecloth around the buffet table.
At Zainab you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat open buffet for €23.50 per person. Prefer to order from the menu? That is also possible.
The extensive menu features authentic Pakistani and Indian dishes. You can have a lentil soup for just €4.75, shrimp pakora (deep-fried prawns, delicious as a starter) for €6 and the mix vegetable curry for €11.50. Order delicious naan to go with it for €3 and you have a scrumptious meal!
Also nice: children aged 4 to 9 eat for half price and up to 3 eat free here.

3. Yellow River Lanzhou handpulled Noodles
In the middle of Rotterdam Centre, on the Mauritsweg, you will find Yellow River. Here they make authentic Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles. It is possible to choose from six different types of noodles (thin, regular, thick, wide, wider and diamond).
When you enter you can place your order at the counter. Here you can look straight into the kitchen and see how the noodles are hand-pulled. After placing your order you will receive a beeper that goes off when your order is ready. You can then pick up the dish yourself and take it to your table. Good to know is that you can also offer all kinds of side dishes! You can get these yourself at the counter.
It is a restaurant where you really come for the food and the price. The food is delicious, but the restaurant is not intended for long dining. You can get a bowl of noodles for around €15. There are vegetarian and halal options.

4. SHIN
As with most restaurants, it’s just how much you crazy you make it yourself at SHIN. At this Japanese tapas bar and matcha café you can share Japanese dishes together!
The prices for the small tapas dishes vary between €4.80 (for example for the Takoyaki balls) and €7.80 (for the SHIN original chicken wings). The Specials are a bit more expensive and the prices are between €13 for the Big-Eye-Tuna Carpaccio and €38 for the Grilled Wagyu Steak.
Wagyu Steak is usually actually a lot more expensive. The owners of SHIN import A5 wagyu from Kagoshima, Japan and then offer it at the purchase price in their restaurant. Owner Tony: “We have chosen not to make a profit on this dish, so that it is more accessible for our visitors to taste real Japanese wagyu. And also fall in love with it, like we did.”
Not crazy about sharing? Then choose a dish for yourself, such as the Donburi Rice Bowl from €15 or a Hot or Cold Udon from €16.
Of course you also want to taste some of the matcha at a matcha café. You have a matcha ice cream from €5.80 at SHIN.

5. Spaghetteria
Spaghetteria is an accessible Italian restaurant on the Nieuwe Binnenweg. They work with a first come first serve principle. Don’t expect tables for two, but long tables where everyone can sit down wherever they like. On the daily changing menu there are six different pasta dishes. The price varies between €13.50 and €19.50 for a high quality pasta.
Spaghetteria make their own pasta in their own laboratories artigianale, a traditional workshop where they make different kinds of pasta according to the tradition of the Italian pasta guild.
At the time of writing, Spaghetteria is temporarily charging an energy surcharge of €1.50 per person in order to prevent overall and permanent price increases.

6. Soi3
Soi3 is a great Thai restaurant on the West-Kruiskade. The restaurant has a modern, colorful interior and there is always a pleasant atmosphere. In the summer you can also sit outside at one of the pink folding tables.
On the menu of Soi3 you will find a wide selection of tasty, affordable dishes. These are served in plastic plates and bowls.
Don’t know what to choose? Then order a Thai classic, such as the delicious Keang kieuw waan (Thai green curry) for € 14.75 or the Pad Thai for € 14.25 as main course. For an extra € 2.00 you can order white rice next to it.

7. PizzaBar di Vicini
Have you already heard of Pizzabar Di Vicina in Kralingen? With their delicious oven-fresh pizzas and great atmosphere, it’s a pizza party every day!
You can find pizza chef Ayad Ezzarouali in the kitchen between 16:00 and 20:30, to provide everyone with thin, crispy, fluffy, gluten-free or veggie/vegan pizzas from the plate. Everything is possible! You can already order a Pizza Margherita for €12 and a Pizza Formaggi for €16.
Also make sure to try the homemade lasagna, which will cost you €16. Definitely not expensive and very tasty!

8. Panzerò Italian StrEat Food
Crazy about Italian cuisine, but want something different than pasta or pizza? Then Panzerò on the Botersloot is the right place for you.
You don’t come here for the typical pizza or pasta evening, but for the Apulian cuisine. Because at Panzerò you eat traditional dishes from Puglia, Italy.
You can especially come here for delicious Panzerotto: a fried calzone with a filling made from fresh ingredients. For example, order the classic Panzerotto with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and chilli from Puglia for €4.50 or the Vegano with all vegetables for €5.80.

9. Deli Tasty
For about €10-20 per person you can enjoy Vietnamese food at Deli Tasty. The prices of the starters are between €5 and €10. You have a noodle soup from €10, which is a whole meal in itself.
The restaurant has a nice interior that really reminds us of Vietnam.

10. What’s Up India
What’s Up India has an extensive menu full of fresh Indian dishes. Order the delicious samosas as appetiser from €4.50. You can get a delicious (vegetarian) main course here for around €8, such as the Channa Masala, Dal Fry or Dal Tadka. Add €2.25 for a simple naan or €3.50 for Basmati rice.

11. Nieuw Rotterdams Café
Visit Nieuw Rotterdams Café for drinks, bar bites, lunch and dinner. And it’s surprisingly affordable! For instance, for just €13.50 you can already order a delicious poké bowl.
You can order a lot of vegan dishes at NRC under the name Viva Las Vegan! For example, order the vegan Kapsalon for €13.50, the Bao Buns for €10.75 or the Beyond Burger for €15.50.
The location on the Witte de Withstraat is also ideal of course.

12. Vessel11
Looking for something a bit different? Then we recommend a visit to Vessel11! The restaurant is actually a red lightship docked in the city centre of Rotterdam.
Here you can enjoy typical British pub food, with a seasonal and modern twist. You already have a simple starter from €7.50 and a main course from €14.50. For example, order the paprika soup (€7.50) or smoked salmon (€10.80) as a starter. As a main course you can choose from a Classic Caesar Salad for €14.50.
Would you like to join the Sunday Roast? For €23.50 you’ll get slow roasted meat, vegetables, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

13. Japanese Curry House Kiiro
Kiiro is the first Japanese curry house in the Netherlands. Here you can create your own curries and add as many vegetables as you want. The dishes are simple, but full of flavour.
For example, you already have Torpedo Gamba’s for €10.50 and for €9.50 vegetarian dumplings. Definitely recommended!

14. BISTROT-BAR FRÈRE
Bistrot-Bar Frère is a new addition to Blijdorp. This French bistrot is, in their own words, “a place for everyone who has a taste for French food, groove, funk and hip-hop”. That sounds cool, doesn’t it? And it is also an affordable place!
Order something delicious from the drink menu and combine it with a delicious natural wine. In addition to being a wonderful place for a drink, you can also have an excellent dinner here. Choose a menu for Petite Faim (€12.50) or Grande Faim (€16.50), which stands for small hunger or big hunger.

15. Gusto
At Gusto they try to work with as many organic products as possible and prepare their pizzas with fresh ingredients. The menu changes regularly at Gusto, because they cook with the season.
On the menu you will also find several vegetarian options and they have gluten free bread and pasta. Craving a pizza or pasta? You have these from €10.50 and €16.50.

16. De Smaak van Afrika
At De Smaak van Afrika or ‘the Taste of Africa’ you can go for the authentic African cuisine and for only a small price. Most main courses are around €15. Or choose the Nay tzom Heweswas, a festive platter with various traditional vegetarian dishes for two. This costs €49.50.

17. De Pizzabakkers
Of course the name already says it, but at de Pizzabakkers you can order delicious pizza’s. The pizza’s here have an extra thin, crispy bottom and are topped with fresh ingredients.
You can get a pizza Margherita for €10. Is a Margherita too plain for you? The delicious and richly topped Campagnola pizza only costs you €15. Bon appetite!

18. La Cazuela
La Cazuela is a lovely Mediterranean restaurant on the always pleasant Proveniersstraat in Rotterdam. For those who do not know this location: behind central station is a small intersection with a mix of nice restaurants.
La Cazuela’s tapas menu includes influences from Spain, Italy, France, Portugal and North Africa. It is possible to order a la carte or go for the surprise menu. You can opt for two courses of tapas for €26 and three courses for €30. The menu consists of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, but can also be completely vegetarian.

19. AJISAN Authentic Tokyo Ramen
Craving a tasty bowl of ramen? Then visit AJISAN on the Coolsingel. It’s an atmospheric restaurant with a great interior. The bar really looks like a ramen bar in Japan and the first thing you see when you walk in is the cool mural.
But what makes AJISAN really unique is that they don’t use any chemical additives in their dishes. The ramen of AJISAN are made as healthy as possible with only natural ingredients.
Fortunately, the dishes at AJISAN are also affordable. The price for a bowl of ramen starts from €13.95. In addition, you pay € 14.95 for a poké bowl and for side dishes, such as delicious gyoza, you pay around €5.

20. Takumi Düsseldorf
Another great place for a bowl of Japanese ramen: Takumi Düsseldorf on the West-Kruiskade. It is a small restaurant, filled with cute lamps and other decorations, giving it a great vibe.
But let’s talk about the food! Takumi’s menu is extensive, with more than 15 types of ramen. You can already order a bowl of ramen from €14.50 and a curry from €14.

21. Supermercado
At Supermercado they don’t only serve delicious cocktails, but also delicious and affordable food! They have great tacos, salads, meat from the grill and much more.
A must is the vegan Ensalada Supermercado with quinoa, pomegranate, raisin, chickpeas and mango chili dressing for the price of €7.50 (small) or €13 (large). And of course you should get the nachos. Are you already hungry?

22. Soif
At Soif in Delfshaven you sit right at the water. Especially in the summer it’s nice to sit on their terrace. In the winter you can sit inside and warm yourself up with their cheese fondue (this costs €21.50 per person)!
It’s a cafe where they serve delicious soups, salads, cheese fondue, risotto and much more. They also have delicious desserts such as the cheesecake, apple pie and nut cake from Koekela.
The prices for the starters are between €9.50 and €14.50 and the prices for the main courses are between €17.50 and €24.50. Would you like a dessert? Then you will spend between €4.50 and €17.50 per person, or you can share one!

23. Restaurant Bazar
Bazar at the Witte de Withstraat is a well-known in Rotterdam and is an excellent choice if you have to keep a tight budget.
Starters cost you about €6 and a main course around €15. Most dishes come from the Middle East and North Africa. At Bazar you can eat well and affordable in Rotterdam, but you can also decide to eat a delicious and affordable breakfast here.

24. SUGO
SUGO is located at multiple locations in the Netherlands, namely in Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Utrecht and of course in Rotterdam!
At SUGO you can go for pizza al taglio. This is a pizza variant that is baked on large rectangular plates and cut into long pieces. Pizza al taglio therefore means “sliced pizza”.
For a pizza at SUGO you will spend around €15. Also take a look at their promotions. At the time of writing, all pastas are €10 every Monday, all pizzas are €10 every Tuesday and every Wednesday you get a regular SUGO pizza of your choice and Moretti beer for €13.50 for students.

25. Hamburg
At Hamburg they serve proper burgers made from fresh ingredients and “honest” meat. This means no hormones and antibiotics. In addition, you can also choose to swap your burger with the vegan ‘Beyond Meat’ burger.
With your drink and delicious fries, you have a full belly for around €20 !

26. BIRD
Fun parties and good food: we love BIRD. Here they serve plenty of dishes in addition to their delicious wood-fired pizzas.
What we recommend is to let yourself be surprised by the Chef’s Table on a Tuesday, also known as ‘Tasting Tuesday’. On this day you pay only €29.50 instead of €38.50 and you get a surprise five-course menu.
Or visit BIRD on a Wednesday and enjoy pizza and beer (or soda) for €15. Book in advance for these two promotions, mentioning ‘Tasting Tuesday’ or ‘Pizza Wednesday’.

27. Rozey
Rozey is one of our favorite affordable restaurants with a top price-quality ratio. With their delicious unlimited vegetarian and vegan dishes, you can even have the biggest meat eaters enjoy themselves.
It’s an all-you-can-eat concept where you pay €37.50 (€42.50 during the weekend). And that includes drinks! Pretty good deal right?! Try the vegetarian burgers and fries, beet carpaccio, seaweed bitterballs, pulled jack fruit or Kentucky fried cauliflower.

28. The Harvest
Do you want a nice warm home-made meal, without having to cook it yourself? Then definitely visit The Harvest, one of our favorite healthy hotspots in Rotterdam. Here they use local and seasonal products with which they put together a delicious plate of food.
It works as follows: first you choose the basis of the dish, then two dishes from the greengrocer and finally you can choose a vegetarian dish or a piece of meat. There are also ready-made bowls to choose from. Depending on your choice, you pay between €12 and €18. And believe us: you’ll feel SO full afterwards.

29. Pho
Buns, rice dishes, spring rolls, rice paper rolls and of course the famous pho noodle soup. At restaurant Pho you eat delicious dishes according to Vietnamese cuisine for an affordable price.
For example, you pay €15.50 for Banh Xeo Chay (Vietnamese pancakes) and €10 for Banh Thit Ga (two steamed buns). With a drink you are set for under €20!

30. De Kleine Ondeugd
This Thai restaurant has been hiding in Kralingen for years. Here you can choose a two-course menu for €27.50, a three-course menu for €29.50 or a four-course menu for €34.50.
The dishes are varied and always a surprise. Expect spicy snacks, Thai soup, Thai desserts and other specialties. A cozy restaurant, ideal for lovers of Thai cuisine!
TIP: Try the butterfly pea tea, if they have it on offer during your visit. This healthy tea changes from blue to purple when you squeeze lemon juice into it!

31. Le Souq Delfshaven
At the Lebanese restaurant Le Souq in Delfshaven you can enjoy fresh, tasty dishes from the Middle East.
Be sure to order a selection of delicious mezzes. These are small oriental dishes, kind of like starters, that are ideal for sharing. The mezze’s go per two people and for example ten types of mezze you pay €21.75 per person and for 15 types €31 per person. It is also possible to choose it per piece.
For example, choose from various cold mezzes such as tabouleh (Lebanese salad with parsley, tomato and wheat grains) for €5.50 or Baba Ghannoush (grilled eggplant dip with tahina, garlic and lemon) for €4.75. For the warm mezze you can choose from various dishes as well, such as falafel (€4.95) or batata harra (spicy potato cubes with coriander, garlic and lemon) for €4.75. Super tasty!

32. Restaurant Meram

Restaurant Meram in Rotterdam West.
There are two Meram branches in Rotterdam: in Rotterdam West, on Mathenesserplein, and in Rotterdam South, on Afrikaanderplein. This is a Turkish restaurant where you can order all kinds of dishes for breakfast, brunch and dinner. Of course at an affordable price!
The menu really has a lot of choice. The Turkish lentil soup (€5.50) is always delicious. The warm Turkish tapas start from €5.95. For example, choose Sıgara böreği, rolls with feta (€5.95), Fırında Kaşarlı Manta, mushrooms from the oven (€6.95).
They also have potatoes prepared in different ways from €5.95, dishes from the pan from €18.95 and various pastas from €10.95.

33. Little V
Do you love Vietnamese food? Then we recommend Little V. This hugely popular establishment in the heart of the city centre is not only very tasty, it is also fantastically decorated. The plants, lights and wooden gazebos make the restaurant very atmospheric and give the feeling of being in Vietnam.
On the menu you can choose from all kinds of typical Vietnamese dishes. Think of one pot dishes such as Bún (from €18), but also fish, meat and vegetable dishes to share, such as the vegetarian coconut curry with mixed vegetables (€12.50), king prawns & scallops in coconut curry (€18.50) and grilled chicken chop with lemongrass (€13.50). Or let the chef decide for you and go for a two, three or four-course surprise menu (between €31 and €37).
Finally, we recommend to taste one of their incredibly tasty (virgin) cocktails or ice teas!

34. De Maaskantine
Please note: the Maaskantine is currently closed and will reopen in April 2023! That’s why now this is a bonus tip to save for later.
De Maaskantine is a fun colourful restaurant with a terrace on the water where you can order tasty BBQ dishes and refreshing drinks.
The menu includes dishes such as fries (€4.50), the cajun cauliflower wings (€9), nachos (€6.50) and various burgers (around €10), to name a few.
Just having a drink at the Maaskantine is of course also possible. There are different cocktails and mixes. They recommend getting a pitcher to save money.
