1. Diepnoord

Romantically sharing snacks with each other, surrounded by the pleasant buzz of other couples. This is possible at Diepnoord on the Bergweg in Rotterdam Noord. Diepnoord is characterized by vinyl, seasonal dishes and natural wines. The brown pub vibe provides an attractive and relaxed environment, where you can enjoy a good conversation with your date under candlelight.

There is a bar menu with bites for drinks, such as olives, oysters and charcuterie. There is also a dinner menu, which changes regularly and is based on local, seasonal ingredients. The dishes are of different sizes, but no distinction is made between starters, main courses and desserts.

On the Middellandstraat you’ll find Marseille, a lovely restaurant with classic French bistro vibes. The menu features a range of French dishes, such as moules frites and onion soup, or perhaps you’ll dare to try the escargots.

13. Parkheuvel

Parkheuvel is the place to be for a very special dinner on Valentine’s Day. You don’t come here for a casual night out, but for an extensive dinner to fully enjoy their culinary dishes.

In 2002, Parkheuvel was the first restaurant in the Netherlands that received three Michelin stars. After the current chef Erik van Loo took over the restaurant in 2006, he had to prove he was worth the three stars by the testers of the Michelin guide and went back to one star. That didn’t stop him and since 2009, Parkheuvel received two stars again.

Parkheuvel is located next to the Maas river and offers a beautiful view while you enjoy new flavors.

This fantastic restaurant with top chef Mario de Ridder received a Michelin star in 2016. According to the website Joelia is “young, provocative, sexy, cheeky. Somewhere you want to be.”

Sharing Mexican snacks together, where can you do this other than at an authentic Mexican restaurant? At Sabor Sabor you imagine yourself in Mexico because of the food, music and vibe.

My personal favourite dishes, from what I tasted during my visit to Sabor Sabor, are the Guacamole Sol y Luna (delicious fresh guacamole with three different corn chips), the Sopa Azteca and Sopa de frijol. In addition, I found the Botana Milpa to be a tasty and versatile dish. They are all snacks with which you can compose your own tortilla. You get the tortilla in a kind of special cloth folder so that it stays warm.

Also order a cocktail together. Be sure to try the margarita tradicional. Not a fan of tequila? Other cocktails are also on the menu, such as the Acapulco Sunrise and sangria. Delicious on hot days!
