Start the weekend off right with Friday Night LIVE! Every third Friday of the month, you are welcome at the Kunsthal for bites & drinks, music & performances and, above all, a stimulating and inspiring programme with a heavy dose of art: all exhibitions are open until 22:00.

At each edition, a different Rotterdam partner is at the helm. On Friday 17 May, that partner is Weelde! Inspired by the exhibition Sylvie Fleury. Yes to All, Weelde puts together a vibrant line-up of artists who use femininity as a weapon. From performances by Dirty Girl to jujulove and the Weelde residents. Find out at Friday Night LIVE!

Het Wilde Diner

When: Friday 17 May 2024

On Friday evening, you are welcome at the Voedseltuin (Food Garden) for Het Wilde Diner (The Wild Dinner), a unique experience where you will be immersed in the world of wild herbs. During this evening, you will learn all about wild herbs during a wild picking workshop. Afterwards, you will get to work yourself and prepare a delicious curry in a cast-iron pan over the fire or a pizza in the outdoor oven.

The evening stretches over four hours and includes a guided game-picking session led by a guide, a tasting of game-picking snacks and local drinks from our own cellar, and cooking with home-picked ingredients over an open fire. The evening will end with a delicious outdoor dinner.

Kaapse Anniversary Beer Festival ’24 anniversary edition

When: Saturday 18 May 2024

On Saturday 18 May, Kaapse Brouwers is organising the 10th anniversary edition of the Kaap Anniversary Beer Festival. The moment for all beer fanatics, drinkers and bon vivants to get together and enjoy a day entirely dedicated to delicious beers, tasty bites and a lot of fun.

The festival takes place in Rotterdam’s Keile District: in both the Keilepand itself and on the large terrace in front of it. What to expect? A walhalla of beers, the best tunes by various DJs, good food stands for all gourmets, tastings, master classes and a secret speakeasy bar (don’t tell).

For anyone who still can’t get enough after 23:00, Kaapse Brouwers is organising an exclusive afterparty in collaboration with Cult=us. Here, there is room for just 150 people to stick around until the late hours. The afterparty will last from 23:00 to 03:00 and one can expect some exclusive releases on tap to end this day extra special and delicious.

Discover new hotspots in Rotterdam

New hotspots open so often, it’s hard to keep up. Do you happen to have time to discover some this weekend? If so, we have a few tips!

Bar Stroom

One of the city’s most loved terraces is back, Bar Stroom opens the doors of its sun-drenched terrace on the River Maas in the former Tropicana swimming pool. In the old wild water bar, you can enjoy local beers, waste-free mocktails and an affordable menu of plant-based dishes.

Bar Stroom uses local vegetables and delicious produce from BlueCity food pioneers for its menu. With views of the bridges and the city skyline, you’re guaranteed a good seat on the terrace here!

Bar Bù

Surprising Chinese dishes with French influences, flanked by wines from around the world and cocktails: that’s Bar Bù. The very latest hotspot in the middle of Rotterdam’s Scheepvaartkwartier. With two sections; one space for the restaurant and one for a mysterious cocktail bar with lounge, you can experience a complete night out here.

Bar Schiemond

On the corner of the Schiehaven and the Nieuwe Maas, you can now settle down at the bar or on the terrace of Bar Schiemond. Where dock workers used to meet before taking the boat to work, you can now go there again for an equally informal, no-nonsense atmosphere.

Bar Schiemond is a place with a heart, filled with nice people, good music and where you can enjoy affordable food and a drink until late at night.

Other fun activities in Rotterdam

Fancy doing some unique activities? Luckily, there are a lot of cool activities to experience in our city. Below are three options, which are also possible when it rains.

Play a game of petanque at Mooie Boules

Mooie Boules is an indoor food hall. Super fun to go if you are looking for a fun outing with your friends.

You can find Mooie Boules in a distinctive metal factory in up-and-coming ZOHO. The factory has been completely transformed into a French village square. Local restaurants serve signature dishes and the bar pours a wide range of wine, speciality and local beer.

The new Euroscoop

The Euroscoop at the Euromast has been renewed! As you are taken on this thrilling ride, you will see the city and its surroundings from all sides. But that’s not all: the brand new, intelligent glass floor goes from matt to transparent. This makes the experience extra special.

We have already taken a ride on the new Euroscope ourselves. Check out our TikTok to see what it was like!

TIP: Buy your ticket to go up the Euromast in advance here. The ticket price is higher if you buy admission tickets on the day of your visit. Don’t forget to click the Euroscoop tickets option!

Go on the Splash tour!

Another fun outing on the water in Rotterdam is a ride on the Splash tour. It may look like a normal bus tour, taking you past the most special spots of Rotterdam, but that’s not all!

During the tour, the bus literally takes a dip in the river Maas. The bus sails on and shows you the city from the water. Unique to experience!

That was all my tips for this weekend. Have fun!
