Rotterdam has a number of super trendy neighbourhoods. The Zwaanshals is one of them. For a long time I lived a few blocks away and was allowed to call this place home. I really enjoyed the nice restaurants and the many (vintage) shops.
I still like to come here and many friends live in this pleasant neighbourhood. For example, on Saturdays there is the Rotterdamse Oogstmarkt (Harvest Market) on Noordplein and there are often nice flea markets on the same square.
This shopping route starts at Noordplein, from where you walk into the Zwaanshals and finally continue the walk towards the Zaagmolenstraat. There you go right around the corner twice until you are on the Zaagmolenkade, where the shopping route continues.
When you have made the round you are back on the corner of Noordplein, where the cute brunch shop Wolly aan de Waterkant is located. That’s where you sit down for a stack of American pancakes, because all that shopping makes you hungry.

1. Kookpunt
Kookpunt is a nice big store focused on everything that has to do with cooking, the kitchen and food. From knives to pans, crockery and table linen, but also coffee machines and refrigerators.
In this store they have everything, from small prices to the most luxurious products suitable for the catering industry.

2. Ding & Dingen
Mariska – the owner of Ding & Dingen – loves second-hand items. She has been selling previously loved clothing for over 15 years.
Her shop Ding & Dingen should certainly not be missed, because here you can buy nice, unique pieces. There is also its own line: DING, made from the materials of second-hand clothing.

3. Xander Franklin Store
This store is really hip. As in: white walls, sleek design and of course sneakers. You can also buy beautiful pieces of clothing here that fit perfectly with those very slick sneakers.

4. Vague Vintage
Vague Vintage is a beautiful, calm vintage store. This corner building is not a crammed store where the flannel shirts blow your head, but a chic, curated store where you score stylish items that last a long time.

5. Natur-el
At Natur-el you buy ‘Organic Fair Fashion’. That means: women’s, men’s and children’s clothing from brands that use responsible and sustainable materials that are environmentally friendly.
You can also find care products such as packaging-free shampoo, soap and deo and many types of woolen socks here.

6. Lily Scarlet
Opposite Natur-el you will find the beautiful shop Lily Scarlet. What once started as an online store has grown into a physical store. It is now impossible to imagine this street without this vintage store.
Do you love clothes from the 40s and 50s? Then you will love this place. The collection is super diverse. Buy the most beautiful hats, shoes, bags, jewelry, gloves, vintage blouses and much more here.

7. CÉNO classics
Further on the Zwaanhals you will find a vintage clothing store slash record store. CÉNO Classics, Esile vintage and Offbeats Records share the same building here.
Follow the orange stairs to the basement for the Offbeat Records vinyl collection. Here they sell second-hand records in all kinds of different genres. There is, however, a focus on DJ material in the broadest sense. Think for example of 90’s west coast electro and detroit techno, 80’s wave and boogie 12’s, 70’s disco and soul, 60’s post bop and modal jazz and under the radar 7” cosmic disco.
In the rest of the store you will find vintage clothing and accessories, selected by CÉNO CLASSICS and Esile vintage.

8. Maison Maas
I wasn’t kidding when I said that Zwaanshals is a neighbourhood full of vintage stores. Maison Maas is also such a nice place to buy vintage designer items.
This second-hand designer boutique sells clothing, bags and accessories from high-end brands.

9. SuperBra

At the end of 2016, SuperBra opened in the Zwaanshals. This bra and swimwear store is very special, because here they sell 130 sizes from A to Q. A bra never costs more than €80, which is nice, because it’s all so pricey already.
But you deserve to spoil yourself, right? So it really has to fit. So if you want to be helped by the specialists, make an appointment via the website so that you receive all the help and information you need during your visit.

10. Isis Inc.
At the end of the shopping street, on the corner, you will find Isis Inc. A busy, eclectic store with anything and everything in all kinds of colours and materials.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday you can shop here for clothing and accessories that make a true statement. Isis Inc. has dubbed itself a ‘street luxury store’, so expect a lot of wearable yet quirky and streetwear-influenced items.

11. SHOWROOM41
From Isis Inc. we walk up the Zaagmolendrift and turn right around the corner to the famous Zaagmolenkade. Here you will find fine restaurants, such as Destino and Mangiare, but of course we come to shop.
At SHOWROOM41 you buy second hand and vintage designer items. This is the place to be if you are looking for clothing and accessories from brands such as Thierry Mugler, Maxmara and Dries van Noten.

12. Jouw Marktkraam
And then the last stop on this shopping route on the Zwaanhals! This is my favourite store on this list. You will find different things here every time, because the products often change.
Individuals and companies can offer their second-hand, vintage and homemade items here for reasonable prices. This is a unique concept where you can browse around, looking for gems.
