1. ROAST
At ROAST they specialize in good coffee. Their employees come from all corners of the world and have brought their knowledge and experiences here, for a fantastic cup of coffee. The hotspot has a real Australian vibe, with a minimalist style and lots of plants.
Together with Mathilde I tasted their chai latte, matcha latte and cappuccino and they all tasted great.
This is also the right place for a good breakfast and lunch. On the menu you can find delicious all day breakfast dishes, such as freshly topped bread or bagels. They make eggs any way you like. Poached, fried or scrambled eggs on fresh bread. On top of that, choose tasty toppings, such as avocado or halloumi.
Another recommendation is the “Eggs Benny” (see featured photo of this article): two poached eggs on freshly baked bread with hollandaise sauce and sesame seeds. You can add salmon, bacon or spinach if you want.

Arzu is really a must-visit in Rotterdam for breakfast, brunch and lunch! Their menu offers all kinds of delicious pancakes, but they also have sandwiches and bowls.
Arzu has two locations, one in Rotterdam North and one in Rotterdam West. In West they have a very nice garden, with nice cushions and beach chairs.

4. Raïnaraï
Raïnaraï can be found on the Middellandplein in Rotterdam-West. There are beautiful rugs and cushions on the sofas and because the terrace is surrounded by tropical trees it feels a bit like you are in an oasis. This makes it a wonderful place to have a drink or have an extensive dinner.
The nomadic dishes of Raïnaraï are made with organic, fresh ingredients and every day you can order something different. You can choose dishes from the display and compose your own menu. There are vegetarian, but also meat dishes.
In addition, they serve delicious Algerian pizzas from the wood oven, and the homemade desserts are also worth mentioning. For example, I had a delicious apple pie when I was here that I still dream about.

5. Sabor Sabor
Do you want to travel to Mexico? Then pay a visit to Sabor Sabor in Rotterdam West. An authentic Mexican restaurant. Fifteen years ago, owner Liz came to the Netherlands from Mexico City with a passion for Mexican gastronomy. Her dream was to introduce the Netherlands to real Mexican cuisine.
Her dream came true! After being at the Swan Market and a successful pop-up on the West-Kruiskade, it was time for our own restaurant on the Adrien Mildersstraat. Through the dishes of Sabor Sabor you travel to different areas in Mexico. Each dish comes from a different part of the country. In addition, the music and overall atmosphere will make you feel like you’re in Mexico.
My favourite dishes (from what I’ve tasted): Guacamole Sol y Luna (delicious fresh guacamole with three different corn chips) and the Sopa Azteca (tortilla soup). The dessert Dulce entre amigos with corn cake, chocolate cake and homemade cheesecake is also worth mentioning!
TIP: fancy a cocktail? Then definitely try their margaritas. I’m personally not even a fan of tequila and I loved it!

6. Vlaamsch Broodhuys
Vlaamsch Broodhuys on the Nieuwe Binnenweg is located in a beautiful historic building, which used to be a cigar shop. Elements of this history can be found in the interior, for instance they have reused the tiles of the shop.
It is a lovely place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch and they serve really delicious bread from their own bakery.
The menu of Vlaamsch Broodhuys is extensive. Fancy a fresh sandwich? Try the mackerel rillettes or the hummus with grilled aubergine and dukkah. Rather want something sweet? Try the delicious yogurt with granola and fruit.

7. Tea Lab
There is always a spot available at the Tea Lab. This hotspot really has a lot of space with lots of seating areas.
They serve a lot of good food here, such as sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, yogurts and salads. And let’s not forget the delicious sweets. For example, on their menu you will find brownie, carrot cake and vegan banana bread.
The Tea Lab is one of the most popular places in Rotterdam for a high tea. They owe their popularity to the variety of dishes and the different choices in the types of high teas. And probably their delicious homemade red velvet cake.
At the Tea Lab you can enjoy a normal high tea, but also a vegan high tea, a brunch high tea and a gluten-free high tea. So plenty of choice!
But just walking in for a drink (to-go) is of course also possible!

8. Lilith
Lilith is known for their delicious breakfast dishes that you can order throughout the day. For example, the menu includes delicious fluffy American pancakes, French toast, healthy acai bowls, eggs Benedict and there are plenty of vegan options.
Lilith is very popular with both tourists and Rotterdammers, so there is a chance that you will have to wait for a table.

9. Studio Unfolded
Photographer Sophia van den Hoek, known from Instagram account @un_fold_ed, has opened her own studio on the Nieuwe Binnenweg. It is a shop, coffee place, event location and creative agency. A super lovely, creative place with a great atmosphere and minimalistic style.
On a sunny day you can take a seat in their lovely garden (possibly with a parasol against the sun) and enjoy an iced coffee, chai latte or homemade iced tea.

10. Happy Food & Health
In the mood for (vegan) pastries? Then you should definitely visit Happy Food & Health on the Nieuwe Binnenweg.

11. Spaghetteria
Spaghetteria is a cozy, accessible Italian restaurant on the Nieuwe Binnenweg. They work here with a first come, first serve principle. So just walk in and pick a spot. There are no tables for two, but long tables where everyone can sit down.
The daily changing menu features six different pasta dishes, made with fresh ingredients.
Spaghetteria make their own pasta in their own laboratorio artigianale, an artisan workshop where they make different types of pasta according to the tradition of the Italian pasta guild.
TIP: KINO is around the corner from Spaghetteria, so if you want to eat a quick bite before or after the movie, Spaghetteria is a godsend.

12. Belgisch Biercafé Boudewijn
Belgian Biercafé Boudewijn has been bringing good vibes to the Nieuwe Binnenweg since 2006. If you love (special) beer, you should definitely visit this place. They have 24 types on tap and more than 200 bottled beers.
Of course you can order delicious food here and the menu features typical Belgian dishes such as shrimp croquettes, mussels and a daily changing special. If you are in need for some snacks during drinks, you can also order the typical bittergarnituur, which are basically deep fried snacks.

13. Knoflookrestaurant Look
Are you one of those people who always wants to throw in five cloves of garlic when making food? Then you really should go to Knoflookrestaurant Look, a unique restaurant on the ‘s-Gravendijkwal.
When I translate the name of the restaurant it’s “Garlic restaurant” Look, so it’s no surprise that they use garlic in every dish they serve. Even in the dessert!
The menu includes delicious meat, fish and vegetarian dishes with a Mediterranean touch. A small selection from the menu: creamy garlic soup, king prawns in garlic, Melanzane alla Parmigiana and halibut fillet with beurre blanc of langoustines and tomato-garlic salsa (see photo above).
As I said, there is even garlic in the dessert. For example, order their famous garlic ice cream or the delicious white chocolate mousse with black garlic, caramel and sea salt. Unbelievably tasty!
