This is exactly what Mathilde and I have done recently. We were invited to try out one of the Marriott Hotel packages. Of course we did not say no to that!

Staycation at Marriott Rotterdam
Immediately after checking in at the Marriott Hotel we received a delicious welcome drink. Of course as a to-go drink, but that is not a problem at all with the view that we were presented with from our hotel room.
The Marriott Hotel is located directly opposite Rotterdam Central Station. In addition to being a fantastic location, right in the center of our city, this also ensures that you have a beautiful view. From an oasis of my own, sipping the welcome drink, I could watch the trams go by and people rushing to catch their trains.
After relaxing in the luxurious room, we got ready to enjoy a three-course meal at Pillars Bar & Kitchen. Finally we can go out for dinner again!
Three-course dinner at Pillars Bar & Kitchen
The hotel has two restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious meal. One of these is the Millèn, the star restaurant with top chef Wim Severein in charge. In addition, there is Pillars Bar & Kitchen, a contemporary restaurant with simple but tasty dishes.
During our stay had dinner in Pillars Bar & Kitchen. The menu at Pillars Bar & Kitchen features seasonal dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. There are fish, meat and vegetarian options.
We chose the gambas in garlic and ricotta ravioli as a starter and Indian curry and sea bass as a main course. A dessert was certainly not to be missed: delicious chocolate ganache and traditional Dutch apple pie closed our three-course dinner.
With the main course we drank a delicious red wine and to top it all off, we ended the evening with a cocktail.
Besides the food, we were also surprised by the amazing service: our waiter even remembered our names. In this way it became a bit more personal, despite the distance.
The next morning it is time for breakfast. Again we took a seat in Pillars Bar & Kitchen. The staff came by with a cart full of breakfast treats, such as sandwiches, spreads and fruit. A creative solution to the lack of a buffet.
It is also always possible to order something tasty from the breakfast menu, such as the classic Eggs Benedict, during breakfast in Pillars Bar & Kitchen. Mathilde and I both went for the Eggs Florentine and a bowl of fruit.

Working at the Marriott Rotterdam
In addition to the need to take a break for a small staycation, it is sometimes nice to work outside of home. One of the possibilities that the Marriott Hotel Rotterdam also offers!
It is currently possible to book a room at the Marriott and work there. The location of the Marriott Hotel is of course ideal: right in front of Rotterdam Central Station, where you also have a beautiful view during your working day. Also important: the WiFi here is nice and fast, ideal for all zoom meetings!
What makes such a working day extra special is that you can use all the facilities of the hotel. This means room service, the gym, a wonderful shower and a nap in the bed. Everything is allowed!

Extra: The Light Walk

The Marriott Hotel has partnered up with Rotterdam Verlicht! to make your stay in Rotterdam a bit more fun. The Light Walk is a cool initiative in which you can discover the most beautiful illuminated places in Rotterdam during a free evening walk.
From December to the end of February you can walk the short (5km) and long (11km) route, in which you will make a pitstop at Pillars Bar & Kitchen for a nice hot chocolate, or at Containerbar Noord for an oliebol. A lovely outing during these chilly (and a bit boring …) days!
You can do The Light Walk every day, from dusk to 11 pm. For a hot chocolate from Pillars Bar & Kitchen it is best to go between 3 and 6 pm!
Marriott Hotel Rotterdam is definitely recommended for an overnight stay, a weekend away in Rotterdam or for a working day!
