11 Unique new hotspots in Rotterdam

1. Rozey

At Rozey you can eat unlimited vegetarian and vegan dishes, including drinks, for €32,50 (€37,50 euros during the weekends).

It’s definitely a unique concept, since Rozey is the first restaurant in the Netherlands where you can eat unlimited vegetarian and vegan meals for a fixed price.

The menu is varied and filled with various dishes, all without any meat; vegetarian burgers and fries, but also lesser known dishes, such as carpaccio made of beet, pulled jackfruit and Kentucky fried cauliflower.

2. Tandoor16

Tandoor16 is an unusual Indian kitchen and bar that offers the best India-inspired cuisine with a large selection of vegetarian (streetfood-) dishes and Tandoor-oven signature dishes. Next to the amazing Indian food, you can also enjoy something from their big drinks menu, including lots of beers, (natural) wines, cocktails and homemade lemonades.

This new hotspot is located in a beautifully classical restored building with a big terrace.

3. Madam Chen

This new hotspot in Rotterdam is the place for you if you’re looking for a fun night out with friends. Here you can order Asian streetfood bites and try all kinds of tasty cocktails. But what makes this place stand out is the fact that you can sing karaoke. There are various rooms that can be rented with your friends for a night full of karaoke, food and drinks!

If you’re not that fond of karaoke, Madam Chen is still worth a visit. You can go here for lunch, diner and when the sun is out, take a seat on their terrace for some drinks and snacks.

4. 30ml Coffee Roasters

After several locations in Utrecht and Amsterdam, 30ml also opened its doors on the Nieuwe Binnenweg.

It’s a great place for all-day breakfast or just to have a good cup of coffee. The focus of 30ml is making the most beautiful coffees, which is why this place is an expert in roasting coffee.

But don’t be fooled, their menu offers a lot more than just a simple breakfast and a good cup of coffee. The drinks menu includes black coffee, white coffee, iced coffee, but also all sorts of juices, matcha teas, soda’s and ‘feeling special specials’. To give you an idea of the ‘feeling special specials’, one of the drinks is the Drop dead by Oreos, which are chocolate drops and Oreo cookies.

And their breakfast menu is as extensive as their drinks menu, with options such as Eggs Benedict, avocado toast, American pancakes and breakfast burritos. Just to name a few…

5. Guliano aan de Maas

Are you familiar with the Italian lunchroom Guliano on the Meent? Usually there’s a line to get a table, because the sandwiches you can order here are some of the best in the city. Fortunately you never have to wait in line for too long, as the service is really quick.

After the success of this location, the owners decided to open up a new restaurant at the Maas. Here you can get the same dishes as at the location at the Meent, with some small changes. Guliano aan de Maas already open their doors at 10 am, which is why they serve breakfast here as well. Another difference with the other location is that you can also enjoy all sorts of bites here and stay for dinner.

6. Pele Surf Shack

If you love Lilith, then you’ll be happy to learn that a new hotspot by the same owner has opened up. And even better: it’s at the beach. Pele Surf Shack is the first plant-based beach place in the Netherlands. Even though it’s not in the center of our city, it’s well worth to travel to the Hoek van Holland and try out one of their amazing dishes and taste their great coffee. And this all while you’re enjoying a sunny day at the beach!

Pele Surf Shack will be open the whole summer, seven days a week. During the winter they will be open in the weekends.

Here guests will be able to order unique, healthy and delicious dishes that are a great alternative for fastfood. Expect innovative dishes from the Asian Fusion Kitchen of high quality, with a focus on health. This is exactly what Han is known for, but Streetfood by Han will be a lot more casual than the other restaurants.

On the outskirts of the city, you’ll find a beautiful city farm. Once the home for the hotspot Uit Je Eigen Stad, now it’s time for a new initiative. A creative, utopian free state: Weelde.

Weelde is a free state where music, theater, art, performance and food & drinks come together. It’s a place for both young and old, a place you can visit both during the day and at night for great adventures and little joys.

At Weelde you can find a lunchroom, restaurant, bar, garden, a big shed and huge greenhouse. So it’s a restaurant, party location and cultural meeting place. Be sure to join their openingsweekend to experience this new place!

9. Rumba

Rumba is a vintage store slash coffee hotspot with coffee from Manhattan Coffee Roasters. This upcoming hotspot is located next to Rose Rouge in Rotterdam Noord, and is also by the same owner of this popular local hotspot – so that’s definitely promising.

10. Mooie Boules

Mooie Boules will open their doors in Rotterdam Noord at the start of June. It’ll definitely be a very unique hotspot, as it’ll be the first foodhal in Rotterdam where you can play jeu de boules (lawn bowling).

This new hotspot will open in an old metal factory in the emerging ZOHO area. The old factory will be completely transformed to a typical French village square. Local restaurants will serve signature dishes and the bar will serve a wide range of wine, special- and local beers. Of course all in combination with a game of lawn bowling.
