10 Great Thai restaurants in Rotterdam

My favourite cuisine is Thai cuisine. I love all Asian food, but Thai food has a special place in my heart (or stomach).

You can really call me for this, in the middle of the night, so to speak. If I had the money, I would eat at a Thai restaurant or order Thai food every day of the week. Rotterdam has a handful of very good Thai restaurants where I enjoy eating and which I would like to share with you.

Heerlijk!

De Kleine Ondeugd is probably the most famous Thai restaurant in Rotterdam, located in Kralingen.

This Thai bistro has been on the Oostzeedijk since 1997 and you eat what is on the menu that day, cooked by chef Kwan. Think of a two, three or four course daily menu including a typical Thai dessert.

Address

Oostzeedijk 348, 3063 CD Rotterdam

2. Soi3

Soi3 is a popular Thai restaurant near Central Station, where you can sit comfortably and eat very well. The flavours are a feast for the tongue, especially the curries are recommended.

I have ordered food from here several times during the lockdowns and I am always surprised by how healthy, fresh and delicious the meals are.

Address

West-Kruiskade 63A, 3014 AM Rotterdam

3. My Thai Son

I would put My Thai Son in the fancy Thai restaurant category. It’s a bit more pricey here but definitely worth the money.

I went there myself once to celebrate Christmas with a loved one and it was a very enjoyable dinner. Especially the traditional coconut soup (my favourite dish!) is to die for.

It’s beautiful how people can connect about food… and that is undoubtedly possible here.

Address

Mariniersweg 74A, 3011 NS Rotterdam

4. Yam Thai

Yam Thai is my favourite place to eat in the Hillegersberg area. I used to live nearby and used to go here often with friends or family.

You can sit outside in the summer to enjoy the weather or cosy up inside in the winter. I always love Thai curries, but Yam Thai’s are in my top three tastiest curries I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant.

You can also get their food for pick up, so if you live in the area: definitely do it!

Address

Straatweg 65, 3051 BD Rotterdam

5. Casa Thai

After a day of shopping, a bite to eat in Rotterdam’s busiest restaurant street is certainly not an unnecessary luxury. So settle down at Casa Thai on Witte De Withstraat and people watch (from the terrace) while enjoying dishes such as mango sticky rice, fish cakes, a papaya salad, spring rolls and more.

Oh, also order a nice cocktail with your meal, they do that well there.

Address

Witte de Withstraat 94A, 3012 BT Rotterdam

6. Deli Bird Thai Kitchen

I dare say it: Deli Bird is the best Thai restaurant in Rotterdam. What they do here in the kitchen is wizardry, because what is served on the plates is magical.

I’ve never taken a bite of anything and never thought: damn!!! I won’t say more, go and taste it for yourself.

Address

Delistraat 44-a, 3072 ZL Rotterdam

7. Hua Hin Thais Restaurant

You will find Thai restaurant Hua Hin on the Oudedijk in chic Kralingen. At this restaurant they serve a daily dish for a small price, or you can eat dishes such as curries, rice tables and spring rolls.

The interior is cosy, with lots of wood, green tones and dark elements.

Address

Oudedijk 158, 3061 AP Rotterdam

8. Mie Ho Thai-Food

In Delfshaven you will find Mie Ho, a small Thai restaurant where you can sit down, but take-away is better at this place. And believe me, you want to try this food.

It’s affordable, the owner is incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. I am a big fan of the noodle dishes and (what else did you expect) the curries.

Address

Schiedamseweg 3B, 3026 AA Rotterdam

9. Siriporn Thais Restaurant

In the heart of Rotterdam you will find Siriporn Thai Restaurant, a hip location located on the Pannekoekstraat.

They serve small snacks such as fish cakes, spring rolls and chicken satay with peanut sauce. They also have coconut milk soups (yum!) and main dishes such as spicy Thai salads, chicken with cashew nuts, curries and fried duck.

Address

Pannekoekstraat 16-A, 3011 LG Rotterdam

10. Alice Thai Street Food

Fancy going out for dinner before a visit to the cinema or theater? Near Schouwburgplein (where Pathé, De Doelen and Theater Rotterdam are located) you will find Alice Thai Street Food, at most a few minutes’ walk.

The name says it all: here you eat street food. Think of Pad Thai, Som Tam Thai, satay, noodles with shellfish, an oyster omelette and fish cakes.

Address

Mauritsplaats 24, 3012 CD Rotterdam

Treat yourself and go out for dinner soon at one of these Thai restaurants in Rotterdam. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy your meal!
